The problem
Engineers calculated packer test results in spreadsheets. Nobody could audit or repeat a result with confidence, and different engineers used different empirical formulas for the same test.
The solution
Built a calculation engine that runs Hoek & Bray (1974) and CANMET (1977) side by side on every test. Engineers choose the method and see both results.
Every pressure stage, flow reading and calculation step is logged. When the grouting contractor questions your K value, the audit trail is there.
Houlsby (1976) flow regime classification is built in. The software flags laminar, turbulent, dilation, washout and void filling.
The result
One test now takes about ten minutes to process instead of two hours. Every engineer uses the same methods, and anyone can rerun a result from the logged inputs.
